Tom Etherington has been appointed the new editor of Bauer’s weekly lads magazine, Zoo.
Etherington, who will take up his new role on October 12, will replace former editor Ben Todd, who left in July.
He is currently deputy and news editor of Zoo Australia, which he helped launch.
Etherington began his career at the Evening Standard, later working for Closer and Nuts magazines before joining Emap as an associate editor of FHM.
He became associate editor of Zoo when the title launched in 2005.
Etherington said “It’s going to be hard to leave Australia, especially at the start of summer, but there’s only so much sun a pasty Englishman can take – and only so much Ashes-gloating the Aussies will bear.”
Zoo’s circulation fell 31.2 per cent in the first half of the year to an average of 111,012 issues per week.
